Tarmac West

Perth's biggest tarmac rally

First run as Targa West in 2005 and now organised by Tarmac Events WA under the Australian Auto-Sport Alliance (AASA), Tarmac West sends crews against the clock on closed roads around Perth. Cars leave at 30-second intervals, slowest first, so spectators see the pace climb as the field comes through.

The stages mix long, flowing roads where you can open the car up with tight, technical sections that punish a nervous chassis or tired brakes. Over four days that adds up to sustained load on every system in the car, with only short service windows to fix anything that breaks.

Proven on Perth's stages:

Evos, WRX/STIs and the GR Yaris have long been a strong presence in tarmac rallying. We know these platforms and where they need attention for multi-day events.

Evo IV - IX

Transfer case and diff oils, AYC health, and brakes that hold up stage after stage.

Evo X

SST fluid temperatures and brake cooling on long, technical stages.

WRX / STI

Oil temperature and level management, plus brakes for repeated heavy stops.

GR Yaris/Corolla

Brake and diff temperatures and tyre wear on a car built for this kind of event.

86 / BRZ

A popular, affordable way into TSD and Rookies, with oil temperature control and brake upgrades.

Nissan Z

Transmission and oil temperatures, brake capacity and tyre setup for a heavier car.
