Tokyo Motorsports has developed a range of tried and tested high performance upgrades for the Evo X and Ralliart Lancer. This selection of upgrades was developed using our in house test car (a 2009 SST Evo X).
Having an in house test car meant that a lot of testing could be carried out. Many parts and combinations were tested to find out what works and what doesn’t.
Choosing a TMX off-the-shelf kit means taking the guesswork out of modifying your Evo. Power outputs are guaranteed and each kit will perform exactly as specified, every-single-time.

Power upgrade kits for the Evolution X
Tokyo Motorsports has a range of power upgrades kits for Evo X that are tried, tested and guaranteed to deliver. If you want more power from your Evo X then this is for you.
There are literally thousands of aftermarket parts out there to suit the Evo X. Some work, others don’t. Some work well with each other, others don’t …and there are even some out there that won’t actually fit at all. As a result, selecting your next performance upgrade can be quite bewildering (and expensive if you get it wrong).
The TMX power upgrade kits have been developed, using our own Evo X development car, to help take the guesswork out of modifying your Evo X. Each kit builds on the previous one so there is no discarding of parts as you move from one power level to the next which is perfect for those who want to modify in stages. The kits are tried, tested and guaranteed to work.
To date we have not seen a single performance setup on an Evo X, of any kind, that out-performs one of our TMX kits.
Typically each kit consists of a hardware upgrade followed by a remap of the engine ECU on our in house 4WD Dynapack hub dyno.

The TMX-320 kit has minimal parts and is very stealthy. The bigger gain is the remap of the engine ECU. This entry level kit if for those who just want a little more than the std car. Fuel, ignition, boost and mivec control tables are all adjusted, together with speed limiters and boost limiters.
TMX-320 cars feel much more spritely on the road compared to standard cars.
Power output is raised from 290bhp to 320bhp.
The TMX-320 kit consists of:
- Uprated [colder] spark plugs.
- High flowing air filter (for the std air box).
- Remap of the engine ECU.
Dyno graph shows std car against modified car. Power is stated in Kw and Nm. New power figures are generated by adding our gains to the factory specs.
Building on the TMX-320 kit the TMX-360 kit adds the first key upgrade to making power; a cat-back exhaust. This allows an increase of boost pressure throughout the rev range resulting in increased torque. This kit is for those who want a good gain over the standard car and want the exhaust note to go with it. Fuel, ignition, boost and mivec control tables are all adjusted, together with speed limiters and boost limiters.
TMX-360 cars feel much more powerful than a standard car, especially on the spool up and peak boost areas.
Power output is raised from 290bhp to 360bhp.
The TMX-360 kit consists of:
- Uprated [colder] spark plugs.
- High flowing air filter (for the std air box).
- 2.5″ upper intercooler piping.
- Tokyo Motorsports 3″ stainless steel cat-back exhaust (with dual, 4″ round, polished tips).
- Uprated boost control solenoid.
- Remap of the engine ECU.

The TMX-400 is our most popular Evo X upgrade kit. Utilising a full turbo back exhaust system, modified air intake pipes and wastegate actuator, the TMX-400 kit exercises the factory turbo much closer to its maximum output. The resulting increase of air into, and out of, the engine allows higher boost pressures throughout the rev range and a quicker turbo spool up. The unrestricted exhaust also means that the increased boost pressure can be applied right up to the red-line giving excellent gains in power and torque. This kit is for those who just want to go fast..! Fuel, ignition, boost and mivec control tables are all adjusted, together with speed limiters and boost limiters.
TMX-400 cars have a very punchy midrange and a powerful top end. This makes them feel agile and much more energetic compared to a standard car.
Power output is raised from 290bhp to 400bhp.
The TMX-400 kit consists of:
- Uprated [colder] spark plugs.
- High flowing air filter (for the std air box).
- 2.5″ upper intercooler piping.
- Turbo inlet piping.

The TMX-500 kit is one of the most powerful off-the-shelf’ upgrade kits available for the Evo X anywhere in the world. Building on the TMX-400 kit the TMX-500 kit replaces many of the cars’ key components with regards to power production. The turbo, exhaust manifold, cams, intercooler, injectors and fuel system are all upgraded. All the standard engine internals are retained with the exception of the connecting rod bolts. The larger turbo is initially slower to spool but allows for a large increase in air consumption over the standard turbo at higher engine speeds. The larger intercooler, exhaust manifold and cams support the additional air consumption and help take the power output over 500bhp. Drivability is not compromised in any way and engine idle is comparable to that of a standard car (even with the addition of larger cams). SST cars require a clutch pack replacement as the elevated torque exceeds the limits of the standard clutches. TMX-500 cars are extremely fast and are not for the faint hearted. The initial acceleration is blistering and the power seemingly endless. This kit is for those who want to go seriously fast and those who want to use the car as a part time circuit car or drag car.
The TMX-500 kit is available with a choice of two different turbos: The GTX3071R, which spools approx. 200rpm earlier and delivers approx. 500bhp, and the GTX3076R which spools approx. 200rpm later and delivers approx. 530bhp.
